Do I need to be ready to book care with MAMA?
Not at all. Many families come while they're still gathering information. The appointment is a chance to ask questions and understand your options before you decide anything.
I'm planning a hospital birth. Is this for me?
Yes. MAMA cares for families planning hospital births and home births, and we'll talk through both in your appointment.
I missed out on MGP. Can a MAMA midwife support my hospital birth?
Yes. Many families come to us when MGP places are full. With our hospital birth package, your MAMA midwife cares for you through pregnancy, supports you in labour at the hospital alongside the hospital team, and visits you at home after your baby arrives. We'll talk through how it works with your hospital in your appointment.
Can my partner or support person come?
Yes, they're very welcome, in person or on telehealth. Your midwife is happy to answer their questions too.
Is there a cost?
No. Discovery Appointments are bulk billed, so there's no out-of-pocket cost and no obligation. You'll receive cost information for our care packages by email within 24 hours of your appointment.
