Bethany Johns

What’s your name and role at MAMA?

Hi, my name is Bethany. In am a registered Nurse and Midwife for MAMA Caulfield South.

What inspired you to work at MAMA?

After 14 years working in hospital maternity care, including leadership roles and helping establish an MGP and homebirth program, I saw firsthand the benefits of continuity of care. Joining MAMA was a natural next step, allowing me to provide personalised care and support women to have greater choice, autonomy, and confidence throughout their maternity journey.

What are you passionate about at MAMA?

I’m passionate about the incredible team at MAMA and the personalised care we provide. It’s inspiring to work alongside people who are so dedicated to supporting each woman and family, with choice, respect, and individualised care at the heart of everything we do.

What are your favourite things about your role?

My favourite thing about my role is being part of such a special time in people’s lives. I work alongside an incredible team of midwives who are not only colleagues but close friends, and it’s a privilege to support women and families through pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood. Being part of the journey of bringing a baby into the world is something I never take for granted.

Where would we find you outside of MAMA?

Outside of MAMA, you’ll most likely find me at church. My faith is a big part of who I am and has shaped the patience, kindness, and integrity I bring to both my personal and professional life. I play piano and sing at church, so if you hear me humming along to your labour playlist, I probably don’t even realise I’m doing it—but at least it should sound good! I also love spending time with friends and have recently been enjoying a fitness journey, learning more about strength training and staying active simply because it makes me feel good.
