Chloe Masloff
Hi, my name is Chloé, I am so happy and proud to be a midwife! I grew up in France and moved to Australia in 2016. Throughout my career, I have had the privilege to work across Queensland, New South Wales, Tasmania, the Northern Territory, and now Victoria! I have worked mostly in rural places and have learnt so much from families and midwives I met along the way. Although everyone tells me I sound Australian, I still feel very in touch with my French culture and traditions. Working with Aboriginal families in Central Australia has further deepened my appreciation and respect for this land I get to call home.
What inspired you to become a midwife
I started telling my parents I wanted to be a midwife when I was 8 years old. I’m not quite sure what my idea of being a midwife was back then, I just remember being fascinated with pregnant women around me; I felt there was something a little magic and special about them. I followed my childhood intuition, and fell in love with midwifery. Looking back now, I just know I am exactly where I am meant to be!
Your approach and philosophy
I think kindness and compassion goes very far, particularly in the context of continuity of midwifery care. It is no secret, the evidence states the benefits of continuity loud and clear - but it is so special, as a midwife, to witness families growing together, empowered and filled with confidence!
One of my favourite things about being a midwife is the connection and the exchange with families. Getting to know a family fosters individualised care and sharing of knowledge, while filling my cup!
If I was given one midwifery wish to come true, it would be for all women and birthing people to feel deeply supported in the physiology of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum, while also knowing that intervention can be positive when chosen or needed.
Areas of interest
I love supporting families during the antenatal period and see it as a valuable opportunity to prepare for both birth and the transition into parenthood.
I place great importance on creating a safe and supportive space for conversations around perinatal mental health, and recognise its significant impact. I am also interested in research within this area and hope to contribute to future midwifery research in perinatal mental health.
Interests outside of work
When I’m not working, I enjoy cycling, running, hiking and spending time by the ocean. Lately I have grown to love bird watching, which I think officially puts me in the “grown up” category? Also, since moving to Melbourne in early 2026, my partner and I have been eating our way through the city!
