Rhea Dempsey
What's your name and role at MAMA?
Hi, my name is Rhea Dempsey and I am an Independent Birth Educator, Birth Attendant, Trainer, Counsellor & Author
What inspired you to work at MAMA?
I have worked in the birth arena for over forty-five years, attending births, educating countless birthing women and their partners, also offering counselling and birth debriefing.
I have presented on birth issues locally, nationally and internationally, I speak passionately about birth anywhere, anytime and have published two books distilling birthing wisdom from my many privileged experiences.
My book Birth with Confidence: savvy choices for normal birth, explores the issue of physiological pain and the importance of experienced support. While Beyond the Birth Plan: getting real about pain and power explores the deeper emotional and psychological dynamics impacting birthing potential.
As a grandmother of five, my passion for physiological birth has reached a new urgency.
