Hayley Nolan
What's your name and role at MAMA?
I’m Hayley, I am an endorsed midwife & work as an educator and as the education manager here at MAMA.
What inspired you to work at MAMA?
When caring for families as a midwife in the public maternity system, I consistently found myself craving more time to answer the wonderfully curious questions they had - which is what ultimately led me to education.
What are you passionate about at MAMA?
I’m passionate about creating class content and workshops that help parents & professionals lead with curiosity, learn something new, and walk away feeling a greater sense of ease, confidence, or even excitement.
What are your favourite things about your role?
There are so many things! I love being in a position to bring realistic and genuinely helpful learning to parents. Seeing parents relax throughout classes and realise that they don’t need a midwifery degree to know how to birth their babies (or for their partners to become doulas in order to be supportive) is so rewarding. My purpose is to help parents feel confident to make their own informed choices and have positive experiences, and I love having dedicated time to do that. I also love sourcing amazing speakers for our professional education. Practitioners deserve spaces to remain inspired & up to date with evidence based practice and it’s such a joy being part of that. I adore being able to truthfully say that the people I work with have made me a better midwife and woman, and I’ll always be grateful that I walked through MAMA’s doors for an interview back in 2020.
Where would we find you outside of MAMA?
Most of the time, you’ll find me down by the water for a swim with my fiancé or cuddled on the couch with my puppy. Otherwise you’ll see me catching up with friends, video chatting my family in Ireland until the next visit home, listening to every episode of my fav podcasts, doing my house renovations, camping, travelling or reading my book.
