About the role:
Working along side a team of passionate and experienced midwives, across the full scope of practice to prepare and lead birthing people and their supports through the most significant day of their lives – the transition to parenthood.
The role will have easy days and hard days just like the births you attend. Birthing requires on-call and unpredictable schedules, so private practice might not be for you.
As part of a team, MAMA can provide support and a better balance than as a sole practitioner. You’ll have the opportunity to work alongside some of the most experienced midwives in Melbourne. We also offer in-house education, training opportunities and progression pathways.
Over the past three years, MAMA has been working on a Sustainable midwifery model of private practice. Private midwives love the work that they do; we are called to fulfil a passion. We tend to prioritise our work over other aspects of our lives, particularly when a client is in labour. This, in time, leads to burnout. The MAMA private sustainable midwifery model encourages the midwives to find work life balance whilst continuing to provide continuity of care. We do this by employing midwives at EFTs suitable for their family life, with rostered days off and supportive team environments.
