Join Our Growing Team
We are looking for a midwife to join both our 'central' team (based at our Kensington clinic) and our 'south' team (based at our Caulfield South clinic) to provide full scope continuity of care within a sustainable, employed private practice model.
The Work
A portion of our clients - around 40% - feel safest to birth in the hospital system with a known midwife beside them as an advocate. Around 60% choose a planned homebirth. Whichever path a client chooses, your role is the same: to walk alongside them with skill, presence and respect.
You will provide primary care to your own caseload and act as a second/backup midwife to support the wider team. You'll be mentored by some of the most experienced privately practising midwives in Melbourne - practitioners who have helped shape what private midwifery looks like in this city.

- 0.8-1.0 EFT (hours suited to your needs)
- Salaried position with on-call loading
- Paid leave entitlements to make sustainable practice genuinely possible

- Registered, endorsed midwife (or endorsed by December 2026)
- Genuine love for birth

- Preferably with caseload experience
- Additional skills such as suturing and cannulation are desirable

Working across the full scope of practice in private midwifery can be one of the most rewarding and satisfying careers you will ever know. The role will have easy days and hard days, just like the births you lead. Birthing requires on-call work and an unpredictable schedule, so private practice will not be for everyone.
