Keri-Ann Tochka

What's your name and role at MAMA?

I'm Keri-Ann (she/her) and I'm MAMA's Practice Manager. I'm originally from the US but fell in love with Melbourne and am almost an Australian citizen. I'm also a single mum and am finishing up a masters of social work this year.

What inspired you to work at MAMA?

I had three truly empowering pregnancy and birth experiences, which turned me into a bit of a birth groupie. When I moved to Australia and was looking for a job, I googled private midwives near me, found MAMA, and emailed them to see if they had any administrative needs. Luckily, they read the email (I now see how many emails they get!) and a small role has over time become a big one!

What are you passionate about at MAMA?

Helping to create a space that is calming and warm for our families, midwives and practitioners.

What are your favourite things about your role?

It's a bit magical I think! The energy of the amazing people who work here and the beautiful families who give us the honour of caring for them is something that I can feel when I enter the building... even when it's empty.

Where would we find you outside of MAMA?

You can find me reading at Princes Park under my favorite tree, in a yoga class or meditation group, or exploring new places with my kids and/or friends.
