What inspired you initially to work as a chiropractor?
My chiropractic care began at a young age. My dad was a truck driver and sought chiropractic treatment for ongoing back pain. He was so impressed with the care he received that he encouraged our whole family to attend the clinic. From early on, I was drawn to the holistic nature of chiropractic care. A person might come in with knee pain, but rather than focusing on just the knee, we would also assess the feet, hips, and spine, provide exercises, and offer advice around posture and ergonomics. Often, we would also look more deeply into a person’s overall health and wellbeing, including nutrition, supplementation, stress levels, and lifestyle factors. I loved that chiropractic care considered the whole person, not just a single symptom, and that approach continues to inspire my work today.
What is one thing you are most passionate about as a chiropractor?
I am deeply passionate about working with people during pregnancy and throughout the post-partum period. Supporting families during such a transformative time is incredibly rewarding and very important. I hope to create a safe and trusted space for all mum during their matrescence. I also love caring for children of all ages—not just babies (although everyone loves babies!), but older children as well. I feel there's so much potential chiropractic can offer children, if you're assessing and treating them as a child and not a mini adult. It is amazing to watch young patients thrive under care, and because babies and children change and grow so quickly, the positive effects are often very visible. Being able to support their development and wellbeing during these formative years I find really exciting.
What are some of your favourite things about your role?
One of my favourite aspects of being a chiropractor is empowering people to take an active role in their own healthcare. While hands-on care is important, I place a strong emphasis on movement, education, and practical strategies people can use in their daily lives. One of my proudest moments was running into a former patient at the supermarket after not seeing them for some time. They shared that they had continued to follow the advice I had given them and were feeling really well. Seeing that sense of ownership and commitment was incredibly rewarding. Another highlight of my role is having the privilege of walking alongside families over many years. In previous roles, I have cared for three generations within the same family. Supporting someone through pregnancy, then checking their newborn, and continuing to care for them as they grow is truly special. Being part of families’ journeys at every age and stage is something I value deeply.
When you’re not working, where would we find you, what would you be doing and who with?
Outside the clinic, I am a mum to two busy boys, Lucas and Patrick, who certainly keep me on my toes. We love spending time outdoors and can often be found at the park, the zoo, or enjoying a day out at Scienceworks. Our household is also very passionate about food, and much of what comes out of our kitchen is made from scratch. From yoghurt and fresh pasta to all kinds of bread, wraps, crackers, and desserts, cooking is a big part of our family life. I’m also well-known for always having a sourdough starter on hand—just remind me ahead of time and bring a jar!
